Sacramento County Rental Housing Registration And Inspection Ordinance

Looks like the County of Sacramento is following the City of Sacramento's lead with regard to the City's rental housing inspection ordinance.

Last week the Sacramento County Supervisors introduced its own Rental Housing Registration And Inspection Ordinance. Get ready folks...it was adopted today.

The County's ordinance is a bit different from the City's ordinance. The County has an option for a self-performed inspection and certification.

I guess when revenue is needed, people can get very creative...too bad!

I hear you!  An extra $150k annually hardly seems worth it though!!

I actually took the class at RHA (Rental Housing Association) and became certified to conduct the Rental Inspections under the County Ordinance.  I'm happy to say that a MAIN point of this program was to be less trouble/cost/headache than the Sac City program.

For all the property owners out there who are keeping their rentals in decent condition, it is VERY easy to follow the guidelines with almost NO cost.  I recommend taking the RHA class (I'm pretty sure it's free!)  Owners can inspect their own properties - no cost there.

Now, for y'all out there who DON'T keep care of your properties...  Let's just say, maybe you should start.

If anyone has questions about it they should call the RHA - very nice folks - www.rha.org.   And I am open to talk to people about it - send me an e-mail or contact me through my webpage: www.BarnesFamilyAppraisal.com
